Its a 6 long hours drive from Minnesota. We left Thursday night around 10pm and arrived 4am the next day. Wawa nga si Nikky kase sya ang nagdrive back and forth. I tried to stay awake to keep him company. We stayed at Nikky's co-workers sister at the west suburb area of Illinois, and I think around 20-30 minutes drive to Chicago downtown.
Honestly, I don't wanna live there. Sanay ako sa gulo ng Manila, actually may similarity ang Manila and Chicago, but because I already live here in a small city of Minnesota, which is sobrang tahimik, walang gulo, less/no crime, di na ko sanay sa ganong lugar.
Actually, dinala kme nung friend namen ni Nikky, who is a black american don sa "hood" (who are all black americans live there), ay grabe, super scary talaga. Lahat sila nakatambay sa labas... basta. Sabi ko nga di ko kayang maglakad don alone. By the way, maraming black americans and hispanic sa chicago. I seldom see white americans or maybe they're on the other side.
I've learned a lot, kung ano ung culture nila in terms of mga gangs gangs na yan. They will not bother you if you don't bother them. They have no rules in fighting. At sympre di na uso sa knila ung fist fight... guns talaga. You will gain their respect if you fight with them. And di sila lumalaban ng one on one. If your alone and someone bitchy around you, don't run away, but tell them na tatawagin mo ung group mo and settled it after. Sabi nga nung friend namen, if ever na bumalik kme don (Nikky and I), and someone bother us, just call his brother and they will take care of it. Kumbaga sa knila, isa ang binangga mo lahat kalaban mo. That's what family means to them. Basta madami pa.
We went also sa mga flea markets. Kung sa pinas puro mga chinese ang mga nagtitinda, don puro mexicano. Wala naman akong masyadong nabili. Bitin nga e, kase di ko man lang nalibot ung downtown, kulang sa oras. Si Nikky for sure sulit kase merong toy con, nakabili sya ng mga action figures nya. Daya!!!!
