Before I got married, I always asked myself if I can cook. I love to watch cooking shows, from Cooking with the Dazas, Sarap TV, Delmonte Kitchenomics, yung show ni Henny Sison, yung sa channel 5 kalimutan ko na kung ano yun, pati yung Wok with Yan, tlgang pinapatos ko. Inaabangan ko lagi ung how he decorates the plate with fresh veggies and fruits. Dagdagan pa ng food network. Khet mahilig akong manood, di pa rin ako nagluluto smen. My parents do the cooking, especially my dad na super dooper kung mag-experiment.
Now that Im a wife, its my obligation to cook for us. Lahat sken first time except for pasta. Before I came here, nagpaturo pa ko sa mommy ko how to cook adobo. In fairness, naperfect ko naman and nasarapan sila (my hubby and his parents). Sabi nga nila "eto ang adobo". Hanep!!!! At sympre di naman palage puro adobo ano! I did, sinigang na baboy, pork binagoongan, beef steak, pork paksiw, nilagang baboy, tinolang manok, chicken ala king, menudo, beef sirlion with mushroom and oyster sauce, pinakbet, ginataang alimasag with sitaw and kalabasa, egg roll and recently mechado, na di ko alam kung tlgang mechado kase parang menudo na rin. Lahat first time to do it. Basta get the ingredients bahala na. All i know is kung ano ung matagal lutuin yun ang una. Dati i dont use ginger but now kung bagay sa menu, nilalagyan ko kase para mawala yung malansang amoy especially sa binagoongan. I learned also na better kung onion muna before garlic in sauteing, para di madaling maburn ung garlic. Wow grabe naabsorb ko ung mga pinanood kong cooking shows. Imagine, may cooking skills pala ako. Dami kong gustong subukan.
I remember nung 2nd year high ako, in my home economics subject, hirap kaya ako magmix ng dry and wet mixture. Sabi ni Miss (this is how we call our lady teacher in St. Paul), cut and fold lang ang technique. I tried chocolate crinckles and i love it! Not too sweet, its chewy, its perfect! nyahaha! I wanna develop my baking skills naman. Meron mga kits na nabibili in cake decorating for beginners.
Hmmm... ano kaya masarap ulamin for the week? Pininyahang manok (i told Nikky if he eats this, oo daw, nagluluto daw ung mama nya nito, yung may pinya, may sabaw... sabi ko ay oo nga noh, dapat may pinya, obvious ba na un ung name from the rootword pininya... so sympre kung dinuriang manok, dapat may durian.. ano ba!!! ang panget ng name parang dinurang manok.. nyahaha! Speaking of amazingness, they love my eggroll a.k.a lumpiang shanghai. Then last time, I brought brazo de mercedes. Yung asian store kase dito may goldilocks products sila kaya bumili ako ng cake kase its my boss birthday, di ako sipsip, proud lang ako ipatikim sa knila. Anyway, back to the cake. One of my co-worker bought a chocolate marble cake. I knew na cake ung bibilhin nila kase sinabi naman nya sken. But since nagdala rin ako, di na ko nagcontribute don sa binili ng cake. So ayan, nilabas ko na from the box (half roll lang ito noh, at isang piraso lang kase mahal nasa $11 each). Pagpasok nila sa pantry, yun kagd ang nakita nila, What is this daw. When they tasted the cake, wow silang lahat. Very interesting daw.. hanep! Lemon Meringue daw. Yung isa tinanong pa ko kung ano tawag don, when I said Brazo de Mercedes, say it slowly. Ok khet sabihin ko naman ng slowly as if naman they will remember it. May I translate pa ko, in english "Arm of Mercedes"... ok fine.
Ibang klase ha, ang haba ng post ko.. nakaisip kase ako ng topic eh... kase nanood naman ako sa food network eh... its the ace of cake. O sya, hanggang sa muli...
Happy eating!
